The roots of triathlon were based on lifeguard style competitions in southern California, Hawaii and Australia. The base of these competitions included open-water swims, open-water swim/run events and paddle board racing. This is a GREAT opportunity for your athletic friends and family not racing in The Big Kahuna Triathlon to get in some "Old School" ocean competition on Saturday.
Most triathletes have a great base of fitness by September, so if racing in a long course event is a little much this can be a great work-out and great opportunity to get more experience in open-water swimming in the ocean.
So mark your calendar for an entire weekend of Big Kahuna Events September 11th-12th, 2010 Santa Cruz, Ca.
We will have more information and registration available by the end of March 2010.
